MFA in Fine Arts

Admission Requirements

A Degree/ Diploma preferably in Fine Arts or its equivalent is the minimum qualification. Applicants must in addition, submit a portfolio of work demonstrating necessary skills and aptitude. However, candidates from related fields like Design, Applied Art, Architecture etc., or with outstanding portfolios are given due consideration on the basis of motivation, commitment and performance during the interview. Applicants from overseas are eligible to apply on the condition that they have the necessary qualifications.

  1. The first step in the admission process is the online submission of the application form with all the required enclosures.
  2. Last date for submission of the online form is the 20th of June 2018.
  3. Based on the application and review of work, applicants are shortlisted.
  4. Shortlisted applicants are invited for an interview at the Shiv Nadar University campus and are required to bring portfolios and work samples.
  5. The dates for the interviews are 4th – 6th July 2018. Candidates applying for the program are advised to book their tickets well in advance. The University will reimburse IInd AC train fare to short-listed candidates appearing for interviews.
  6. The final list of selected applicants will be declared on the 15th of July.

The Department of Art, Design and Performing Arts at the Shiv Nadar University would like to announce that admissions to the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) program are now open from the 1st of May for the academic year beginning in August 2018.

Eligibility

 The minimum entry qualifications for the MFA program are:

  • A Bachelor of Fine Arts degree/diploma or equivalent qualification.   
  • Applicants must also have a portfolio of work demonstrating the necessary skills and aptitude. Applications from international students with relevant qualifications are welcome.

Online upload of following documents is required:

Passport size color photograph.

All Mark sheets/Degree Certificates (10th Standard onwards).

Upload a portfolio in PDF format of upto 20 images of 5 to 7 works.

IMPORTANT:

  • PDF portfolio has to be less than 20 MB in file size.
  • Only 20 images will be considered. Do not upload more.
  • In the case of sound or video works, please upload them to any trusted video-sharing website and provide links.

Images in the PDF file must be labeled with:

  • Name
  • Title of Artwork
  • Medium
  • Dimensions
  • Year
  • Download Link
  • Duration ( in case of Video/Sound Works)

The application requires all students to:

  • Write an artist’s statement of 500 words in English (or applicant’s mother tongue).
  • Write a statement of 200 words about any one artist from the given list (below) of artists, some of whom are currently associated with the department:
