The Department of Art and Performing Art, affirms the idea of practice as research. Through their practice, the students are encouraged to act as ethical and responsible participants in citizenship.
The research interests of the department range from the post-colonial history of dance and practice-based research on dance/education, socially relevant and participatory art practices, art as intervention, trans-media projects that investigate art, society, and violence, participatory and inclusive practice. The courses offered to reflect these concerns and the students develop manual and technical skills through research in embodied practices, leading to contributions in academic, cultural and political life.
